- some basic discussion about modulariaztion of IPE. IPE has it's own MPI COMM space.
- We decided that the current potential solver in OpenGGCM should be replaced with the Richmond-Maute (RM) solver.
- RM solver uses apex (IGRF) coordinates that mesh with IPE and proved full sphere solution with seamless transition between low and high latitudes. Still need to figure out how it works and what it requires.
- RM solver already used in RCM-IPE coupling.
- need to figure out if upper bc can be extended to poles --> solved, see paper rcing the TIEGCM model with Birkeland currents from the Active Magnetosphere and Planetary Electrodynamics Response Experiment, S. Marsal A. D. Richmond A. Maute B. J. Anderson https://doi.org/10.1029/2011JA017416
